The world number one will face Argentina's Francisco Cerundolo.
The match against Dutchman de Jong, the 24-year-old world number
303, came after his winnign debut after a three-month doping ban
against Argentine world number 142 Mariano Navone on Saturday.
The 23-year-old South Tyrolean has won one US Open and two
Australian Opens.
He is favourite to win in Rome along with world number three and
four-time slam winner Carlo Alcaraz of Spain.
