Fincantieri said Wednesday it would
bring forward the construction of its first zero-emission ship
from 2050 to 2035.
Fincantieri is working to "bring forward the construction of the
zero-emission ship to 2035 and not to 2050" as indicated by the
International Maritime Organization (IMO), said Fincantieri CEO
and DG Pierroberto Folgiero at the Shareholders' Meeting held
Wednesday.
Hydrogen research is going in this direction", he specified.
For Folgiero "the ship is a system of systems, no longer a hull
that needs to be welded" and today
Fincantieri is "the largest shipbuilder in Europe" that "offers
complete services for the life cycle of green and digital
ships".
In this sense, the CEO underlined, "today we also build fuel
cells".
