In Venice, on the occasion of the 19th edition of the Architecture Biennial, the Farnesina, as part of a new 'architecture diplomacy' initiative in synergy with the Ministry of Culture, has created a first exhibition dedicated to Italian architecture in the world. The exhibition will then embark on a journey abroad through the Foreign Ministry's network of embassies, consulates and cultural institutes. The Farnesina is therefore present for the first time with its own initiative in the context of the most important international event on the subject of architecture, thanks also to the collaboration with various Italian universities, such as the Iuav of Venice, La Sapienza University of Rome and the University of L'Aquila. In line with the project "ArchITettura Senza Confini /ArchITettura Beyond Borders", with which the two Ministries intend to valorise through various initiatives the work of Italian architects who have contributed to urban and infrastructural development in different parts of the world, the travelling exhibition "Italian Architecture Worldwide" represents the first attempt to portray a significant picture of Italian architecture abroad through a narrative destined to evolve with new research and collaborations.
The exhibition in Venice aims to provide an understanding of the role played by Italian professionals in the construction of the human environment on a global level through a review of works realised, or even only imagined, in different historical and geographical contexts. In addition to promoting the expertise of Italian design and Made in Italy, the project also highlights many works that are still little known, despite the significance they have assumed for the international architectural heritage and panorama.
