Inter coach Simone Inzaghi hailed his
players spirit of sacrifice after they held Bayern Munich to a
2-2 draw at San Siro on Wednesday to progress to the Champions
League semi-finals 4-3 on aggregate.
The Serie A leaders held their nerve after Bayern's England
forward Harry Kane opened the scoring to level the tie following
their 2-1 win in the first leg in Bavaria, and they came back
thanks to goals by Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard.
Bayern's Eric Dier's equalized on the night for the German
giants but Inter held on to their aggregate advantage to set up
an encounter in the last four with Barcelona and keep alive
their hopes of winning a Champions League-Serie A-Italian Cup
treble.
"It's a wonderful night, one which we've shared with our fans in
our stadium," said Inzaghi.
"We played two great matches; the lads were brilliant.
"It's been a long, difficult season, but one that's bringing us
a lot of joy.
"Doing this against a team like Bayern only adds to the
satisfaction: they are an incredible team that maintain
intensity throughout the 90 minutes, but we responded blow for
blow, both in Munich and here at San Siro.
"This is a squad that makes sacrifices and works hard.
"The group is very united, and we all suffered together.
"We need to keep moving forward and enjoy these nights. San Siro
truly moved us tonight."
