AC Milan keeper Mike Maignan said
Sunday that he was confident the battle against racism in soccer
will be won after he was subjected to monkey chants in his
side's 3-2 win at Udinese on Saturday.
"It's a tough fight, it will take time and courage, but it's a
fight we will win," Maignan, who stormed off the pitch as the
match was briefly suspended due to the abuse, said on social
media.
He said people who do not take a stand against such acts of
racism, including the fans in the stands and the authorities,
are "accomplices"
"It was not the player who was attacked, but the man, the family
man," he said, thanking those who had shown support for him.
