Pope Francis had another good night
of rest in Rome's Gemelli hospital after being admitted last
Friday with breathing problems due to bronchitis, the Vatican
said on Thursday, having reported a slight improvement in his
condition on Wednesday.
Earlier this week, the Vatican said the Pope's complex clinical
picture was complex and that he had developed double pneumonia,
meaning he is set to stay in hospitalization longer than
initially expected.
"Pope Francis has had a restful night and this morning, got out
of bed and had breakfast in an armchair," the Vatican Press
Office said on Thursday morning
On Wednesday evening, the Vatican had said that the 88-year-old
Argentine pontiff's condition was stable, and that "the blood
tests, evaluated by the medical staff, show a slight
improvement, particularly in the inflammatory indices."
