President Sergio Mattarella on Monday
welcomed Jordan's King Abdullah to the Quirinale presidential
palace in Rome, telling him that Italy supports his country's
mediation efforts in the region.
"It is always an honour for Italy to have you in Rome and it is
an honour and a pleasure for me to welcome you at the Quirinale.
"Your presence at this time of particular difficulty, here in
Rome, is for us very important, being able to exchange opinions,
being able to analyse together the complicated situation in
which our common neighbourhood moves", noted Mattarella.
The head of State highlighted the importance of keeping in close
coordination with Jordan "because your country is undertaking an
exemplary work of coordination, mediation and connection of the
region and we are close and support the actions which Jordan is
carrying out with much importance".
Mattarella also congratulated the King for the birth last month
of his granddaughter Amina, daughter of Princess Iman.
The King became a first-time grandfather when Crown Prince
Hussein and his wife, Princess Rajwa, welcomed their first baby,
daughter Iman, in August 2024.
