Cult comic actor Lino Banfi on
Wednesday remembered Nadia Cassini, the Italo-American actress
who starred with him in four iconic 'sexy comedies all'italiana'
in the 70 and 80s and who has died aged 76.
The pair scored box office smashes and left an indelible mark on
popular cinema history with The Doctor Is With the Colonel, The
Nurse in the Military Corridor, The Teacher Dances... With the
Whole Class and Mazzabubù.
"It's the first time I've made an announcement of this kind on
social media and I don't want to get used to it, it always hurts
the heart", began Banfi's video message.
"Many of you will already know... Nadia Cassini has died. This
thing has left a deep impression on me, I was very sorry. I know
that lately she was suffering a lot from an incurable disease
and I was very sorry...". Banfi recalled "unforgettable moments"
saying "they came to mind like flashes of her beautiful career.
She was a good woman, a good girl. I remember an episode with
her mother, who was a noblewoman who came to visit her in
Livorno where we were shooting a film and where I was the
colonel. She didn't know how to say colonel and she said
'coglionello' (little jerk) and so we kept this line in the
film.
"Her mother was very surprised that I brought her an orchid and
one to Nadia. I have a good memory of her".
