Italy's two-time MotoGP world
champion Francesco Bagnaia won the Grand Prix of the Americas in
Austin, Texas, on Sunday to end the perfect start to the season
of his Ducati factory team companion Marc Marquez.
Spain's six-time MotoGP champion Marquez, who had won the first
two Grands Prix of the season, along with the sprint races and
Saturday's sprint in Austin, crashed out on lap nine while he
was in the lead.
Marquez's brother Alex Marquez of the Ducati satellite team BK8
Gresini Racing came second on Sunday while Pertamina Enduro
VR46's Fabio Di Giannantonio came third on another Ducati,
Alex Marquez's sixth second-place finish of the season took him
to the top of the standings with 87 points, one point more than
his brother.
Bagnaia is third with 75 points.
