Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani said Tuesday that it is necessary to find a
balance that makes it possible to respond to US President Donald
Trump's tariffs without being dragged into anti-Americanism.
"We must not bow our heads, but neither must we be
anti-American," said Tajani. "We have to find a solution that
makes it possible for all Italian companies not to suffer.
"Tariffs are not good for anyone.
"We cannot negotiate on a national level," he continued.
"'Italy cannot go it alone, this is the EU's competence.
"We can have a national trade policy, but tariffs are handled by
Europe".
