The Milan bourse closed 5.18% down
Monday, the third straight plunger since last Wednesday's
announcement of US President Donald Trump's tariffs.
The benchmark FTSE-Mib index closed on 32,853 points.
Europe also suffered again, as did other global stocks, with
London losing a further 4.4%, Paris and Amsterdam 4.7%,
Frankfurt 4% and Madrid 5.1%.
The falls were briefly paused amid reports Trump would pause
tariffs for 90 days but then resumed after the White House
branded the report fake news.
In New York the Dow Jones was 1.28% down after the report, the
Nasdaq 0.25% down and the S&P 0.75% down, but all appeared set
to fall further after the denial.
