United States President Donald Trump and Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni will on Thursday talk about defence, energy and ways to increase cooperation in space, a US official was quoted by the Bloomberg agency as saying.
Meloni's visit is being closely watched amid Trump's tariffs policy.
The Italian administration has also reportedly voiced interest in Elon Musk's SpaceX satellite system for fast Internet communications, although no announcement has been made.Italy is upping its defence spending to 2% of GDP to help meet Trump's demands and as part of NATO.Meloni will also reportedly discuss buying American liquefied natural gas (LNG) while she is in the White House, according to reports ahead of her visit.
