Pope Francis defended the
Palestinians from the alleged Israeli "genocide" in Gaza,
Islamist militant group Hamas sad on his death Monday.
"Pope Francis was a firm defender of the legitimate rights of
the Palestinian people, particularly in his firm position
against the war and acts of genocide perpetrated against our
people in Gaza over the past months," Bassem Naim, member of the
political bureau of Hamas, said in a statement.
