A company belonging to the Valentino
fashion group, Valentino Bags Lab srl, was put into
administration by a Milan court on Thursday over alleged worker
exploitation.
The company, which produces the bags and travel accessories of
its parent company, Valentino spa, allegedly failed to check for
exploitation in Chinese factories in the subcontracting chain.
The move by the court is related to a probe by the Carabinieri
police's Labour Inspectorate Unit and coordinated by Milan
prosecutors, who have staged a series of investigations in
recent years uncovering worker exploitation by companies active
in Italy, including several multinationals.
