The mayor of Bergamo, north of
Milan, on Thursday accused the regional government of hiding the
full scale of deaths from the coronavirus, a charge the Lombardy
government denied.
"We reported that the deaths were much higher than the
official toll, they hid the provincial data," said Giorgio Gori.
The regional government said "the diffusion of data by the
region to health authorities and to the media has not changed
and continues to be the same".
It said its reporting was thorough and accurate.
The government described Gori's claims as "baseless".
