Finance police on Wednesday executed
an order to seize around 800 million euros worth of assets from
three brothers-business partners based in the city of Lamezia
Terme in Calabria.
The impounded assets include Due Mari, the southern region's
biggest shopping centre, over 100 retail outlets, including 19
hypermarkets, car and motorbike showrooms and stakes in 34
companies, including those owning the Vigor Lamezia soccer team
and the Pallavolo Lamezia volleyball club.
The authorities also seized many properties, around 40 vehicles,
including a Ferrari, and bank accounts in the names of the
brothers, Francesco, Pasqualino and Marcello Perri, and their
relatives.
The brothers' father, Antonio Perri, was murdered in a mafia hit
in March 2003 at the age of 71.
