US tariffs on products from the
European Union could have a very serious impact on Italy, Istat
said in an analysis published on Friday.
"The imposition of tariffs preannounced by the US administration
could have a significant impact on our country", said Istat in a
note accompanying a report on the Italian economy.
"In 2024, over 48% of the value of Italian exports came from
outside the EU", a higher percentage than those reported by
Germany, France and Spain, said the national statistical
institute.
Among the main commercial partners, the United States "absorbed
about 10% of Italy's sales abroad and over a fifth of those of
Italian products for extra-European markets", explained Istat.
