The former president of the Province
of Salerno and former mayor of Capaccio Paestum, Franco Alfieri,
was among 10 arrested Thursday in an investigation into the
political-mafia exchange including vote buying in Campania and
Abruzzo.
Alfieri had already been arrested on 3 October last year in the
context of an investigation into rigged tenders when he was at
the head of the Province and of the town of Salerno,
subsequently resigning from his positions. He was subsequently
granted house arrest.
