Giorgio Armani has called off his upcoming shows in Milan and Paris due to the current upsurge in COVID-19 cases amid a rise in the spread of the more infectious Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
The famed fashion designer has cancelled the autumn/winter 2022/23 shows of Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani Uomo and the spring/summer 2022 show of Alta Moda Giorgio Armani Privé.
"The decision has been taken by the designer with a heavy heart after a careful reflection, in consideration of the deterioration of the epidemiological situation," a statement said.
"Runway shows remain, as the designer has often said, a fundamental and irreplaceable moment, but safeguarding the health and safety of collaborators and the public is yet again a priority".
