Yesterday, the Grand Teatret in Copenhagen, a historic cinema venue in the Danish capital, hosted the first evening of the Italian Screens screening cycle, as part of the Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo.
The opening evening was opened by the screening of 'Cento Domeniche', with the participation of the director and leading actor, Antonio Albanese, who presented the film and answered questions from the audience.
Also present at the event was Roberto Stabile, Head of Special Projects for the Ministry of Culture/Cinecittà, who emphasised the importance of the initiative to promote the best of Italian cinema abroad and to facilitate closer cooperation for the co-production and distribution of Italian films in Denmark.
A large and attentive audience that warmly welcomed the films and the initiative," a press release reported, "was presented with the intention, through the selected films, to open a window on Italy today, allowing the Danish audience to appreciate the facets of our society, going beyond the often stereotyped visions linked to film representations of the past.
The festival will continue in the following days, from 21 to 24 October, with the screening of four more contemporary Italian films: "L'ordine del tempo", "L'ultima volta che siamo stati bambini", "Romeo and Juliet" and "Il Comandante".
