The Ambassador of Italy to Croatia, Paolo Trichilo, spoke in Zagreb, at the headquarters of the Croatian Journalists' Association, at the award ceremony for the journalism prize in memory of Silvio Tomašević and Inoslav Bešker, well-known Croatian media correspondents in Italy, who passed away in recent years. The prize, in its first edition, was launched by the Italian Cultural Institute in Zagreb (IIC), with the support of the Embassy, with the aim of promoting knowledge of Italy in Croatia in newspapers, magazines, portals and multimedia works published in the country's registered media. In the 'best article' category, two works dedicated to the tradition and dynamism that characterise Trieste (among the Italian cities closest, not only geographically, to Croatia) and to Neapolitan society and reactions to the crisis in the Middle East were awarded prizes. In the 'best audio/video product' category, two reportages were awarded, on Rome and Italy. In addition, a series of articles published in the Italian-language daily newspaper 'La voce del popolo' was selected with a special mention for the constant attention paid to the development of the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley project.
The selection of the winning works was carried out by a Commission consisting of the Ambassador. Trichilo (Honorary President), the IIC Director, the President of the Association of Croatian Journalists and journalists from the leading Croatian media. During the ceremony, Ambassador Trichilo hoped that the initiative would stimulate Croatian journalists to contribute with their work to an even more widespread knowledge of Italy.
