An intense and emotional musical experience was offered by Brazilian soprano Angelica de la Riva to the audience that packed the Ateneo de Madrid on Friday evening for the 'I love Puccini' concert, a tribute to the great composer on the centenary of his death, sponsored by the Italian Embassy in Spain.
De la Riva, acclaimed by critics for her "vocal excellence and scenic magnetism", in the first part of the recital performed pieces such as 'Avanti Urania', 'Ad una morta' or 'Sole e Amor', and then in the second part she moved on to Puccini's most famous pages, such as 'La Bohème', 'Tosca', 'Madame Butterfly' and 'Manon Lescaut'.
With her powerful voice and at the same time capable of delicate nuances, the soprano did justice to the passion of the arias in Puccini's repertoire. The concert also featured two other talented artists: tenor Miguel Borrallo and pianist Sergio Kuhlmann, who accompanied de la Riva with skill and passion, eliciting warm applause from the audience, testifying to the appreciation of the high-level performance.
