This week, as part of the World Italian Design Day, the Embassy of the Italian Republic in Skopje, in cooperation with ITA - Italian Trade Agency - Skopje, is organising a conference on the theme: "Inequalities: Design for a Better Life".
The conference will be held in the A1 amphitheatre of the Faculty of Computer Engineering (FINKI), on Friday 21 February, starting at 12:00.
The event will be opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Engineering, Boro Jakimovski, together with the Minister of Digital Transformation, Stefan Andonovski, and Ambassador Paolo Palminteri.
The ninth edition of Italian Design Day will present some of the best examples of Italian urban design aimed at overcoming inequalities, urban innovation, urban technology and sustainability.
Special attention will be given to successful examples of urban redevelopment and development in the city of Turin, which will be illustrated by Chiara Lucchini, Head of Regional Development at Urban Lab Torino (an institution born from the partnership between the city of Turin and the Polytechnic University of Turin, which brings together experts, citizens and businesses engaged in the creation of solutions for the urban transformation of the city). Over the last 25 years, Turin has become an example of urban transformation where, thanks to the creative redevelopment of old industrial areas and buildings, a good traffic management strategy and the promotion of a knowledge-based economy, the city has managed to position itself as an attractive tourist and business location with a completely new identity based on inclusiveness, culture, gastronomy and modern art.
The Director of the Piedmont Digital Innovation Hub, Francesco Mosca, will instead present the cooperation and partnership model for sustainable innovation of Piedmontese companies and clusters in the fields of digital innovation, cyber and digital sustainability.
Also speaking at the conference will be Rodolfo Pinto, a young entrepreneur from Bergamo in the field of urban tech and climate tech, and an expert on sustainable urban innovation. Owner and CEO of SuperUrbanity, he has been working for years on digital solutions for sustainable development and the green transition of cities and companies.
Giovanni Bottini, President and CEO of Systematica, will present innovative, inclusive and sustainable solutions for urban mobility. Systematica is an Italian transport planning and mobility consulting company based in Milan with offices in Mumbai and New York; it provides a wide range of integrated transport and urban planning consulting services, such as strategic consulting and infrastructure investment management.
Italian Design Day is a project of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs that promotes design as a universal expression of 'Made in Italy'. Italian Design Day is celebrated with a rich programme of events organised by Italian embassies around the world.
The partners of the event are the Faculty of Computer Engineering - FINKI, the Business Accelerator BAU and CAPRIS (Centre for Advanced and Postdoctoral Research at the University "SS. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje). The event is supported by the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of North Macedonia and EuropeHouse.
