In view of World Rare Diseases Day, the Italian Embassy in Seoul and Recordati, an Italian company founded in 1926 that now operates in around 150 countries, organised the event 'Focused on the Few', at the premises of High Street Italia, the showcase of Made in Italy in Korea managed by the Italian Trade Commission.
The event, aimed mainly at Korean university students and researchers, illustrated the progress in scientific and technological cooperation between Italy and Korea, with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical sector. In her opening speech, Ambassador Emilia Gatto emphasised the importance of international cooperation, ongoing research, and increased social awareness to address the global health challenge of rare diseases. Kate Lee, Head of Recordati Korea for Asia, highlighted the difficulties faced by patients with rare diseases and the company's commitment to improving their situation in Korea, including by helping to create an environment that facilitates early diagnosis and effective treatment of rare diseases.
