The Consulate General of Italy in Porto Alegre and the Honorary Consulate in Caxias do Sul, with the support of the Florense company, are today proposing the Italian Design Day at the Theatre of the University of Caxias do Sul, where more than 600 seats were sold out, confirming the exceptional participation of the public.
The opening ceremony sees the presence of Consul General Valerio Caruso and Mayor Adilò Di Domenico, together with two illustrious ambassadors of Italian design: Architect Fabio Novembre and designer David Dolcini. The speakers will discuss the theme "Inequalities. Design for a better life', highlighting the fundamental role of design in addressing social challenges and promoting a quality of life accessible to all.
The event will be held in the context of the Salone del Mobile in Milan, underlining the importance of Italian design on an international level. On the sidelines of the Italian Design Day, the exhibition 'PINK. Pioneers of Graphic Design. Women in the History of Italian Graphic Design', an initiative of the Italian Association of Visual Communication, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The exhibition will be open until 11 April and highlights the figures and contributions of women graphic designers active between the 1950s and 1970s in Italy, in a period of great changes for society, between the economic boom and new customs. Through posters, books, sketches, drawings and photographs, the exhibition reveals not only extraordinary graphic objects, but also the lives of autonomous, courageous and talented women who successfully reconciled their professional and private lives.
