The Italian Ambassador to Canada Alessandro Cattaneo visited the Italian pavilion at Aeromart in Montreal, one of the main international events in the aerospace sector. The Ice Agency oversaw the participation of 16 Italian companies, joined by 17 companies from the Campania Region. These joint efforts contributed to making Italy the most represented European country at the show, with 37 total participants.
On the sidelines of the fair, the ambassador opened the round table 'Italy-Québec: A Space for Opportunities' organised by the Consulate General of Italy with the support of ICE. In his speech, Cattaneo pointed out the significant increase in the exchange between Canada and Italy in the aerospace sector in recent years, in the context of a renewed bilateral collaboration, propitiated by the Memorandum signed by the two space agencies in 2021. In front of an audience of around 100 operators, the Italian CIRA research centre, the Quebec-based Criaq research centre, the Aéromontréal cluster, the Campania region, and the Emilia-Romagna region's aerospace consortium animated the dialogue between Italian and Canadian aerospace players. The Italian companies taking part in Aeromart boast consolidated expertise in the aerospace sector and operate in the sub-sectors of engineering, automation, robotics and artificial intelligence, machining, raw and finished components, assembly, testing, laser drilling and welding, quality control, surface treatment, mechanical and 3D prototyping, production systems and special processes, integrated aerostructure assembly, aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul, and electronic and digital systems, among others. Aeromart also provided the setting to announce the five-year partnership agreement between the Campania-based company DeAms and the Canadian multinational Bombardier, with the first project involving the establishment of a DeAms subsidiary in Montréal and the design and construction of automated lifting platforms for an initial total value of USD 1.5 million.
