Ambassador Giuseppe Buccino, together with the head of the Ice Office in Madrid, Giovanni Bifulco, officially inaugurated today at Casa Decor - the largest event dedicated to interior design in Spain - the 'Spazio Italia', organised by the Italian Trade Agency (Ita).
Italy, the only country to have its own specially dedicated space at this edition, has recreated - under the direction of the Bao Proyectos studio and thanks to the participation of twenty Italian companies - a space that celebrates the excellence of craftsmanship between past, present and future, in a path that starts in a dining room and ends in a coffee corner.
The Italian companies participating in the project are: Adj, Antique Mirror, Biticino, Cornelio Cappellini, Flos, Grafiche Tassotti, Granitifiandre, Kanz, La Marzocco, Laminam, Lineasette, Listone Giordano, Lk Project, Marsc Distribution, Medulum, Podestà Adriano Sedie, Rubelli, Studio Bojola, Tubes, Valpaint.
Another 7 Italian design furniture companies are also present at the 60th edition of Casa Decor, "which testifies to the fact that - recalled Ambassador Buccino - the design and furniture sector is one of the leading sectors for Made in Italy products in the world". "Moreover," added the ambassador, "every initiative organised to promote Italian design meets with great enthusiasm in Spain, and this constitutes an ideal starting point so that the two countries can look together at how to expand their presence in markets where there is still ample unexplored potential.
Casa Decor is a platform for design, trends and lifestyle, with a unique format, held each year in a different location in the centre of Madrid. For six weeks, the exhibition opens an iconic and unique building in the capital to the public, hosting spaces furnished by both established professionals and promising young interior designers. This edition is celebrated in the marvellous Edificio de Sagasta 33, a splendid example of late 19th century Madrilenian eclecticism, built by architect Luis de Landecho Jordán y Urríes.
