Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said
that Italy was "very concerned" after Israel resumed strikes on
Gaza early on Tuesday, ending the truce with Hamas that had been
in place since 19 January.
"It was evident that Israel was raising the tone," the minister
told RTL 102.5 radio.
"It is a consequence of Hamas' attitude on the return of the
hostages.
"This not only interrupts the truce, but also the path to
bringing all the hostages home.
"We hope to be able to restore a truce but I am not optimistic.
We will work to do so".
