"Europe can no longer be
defenceless. "The new US policy emphasises Europe's greater
responsibility for its own security," said Polish Prime Minister
and current President of the EU Council, speaking to reporters
in Brussels. "If NATO is to continue to be the pact that
guarantees Poland's and Europe's security, it is obvious to
everyone that Europe must take on much more responsibility and
defence tasks," he added.
