The Secretary General of the
Central European Initiative (CEI), Franco Dal Mas, who took
office on January 1, 2025, paid his first international visit to
Serbia, which holds the CEI Presidency in 2025.
Dal Mas discussed key CEI agenda items with Minister of
Foreign Affairs Marko Djurić, including supporting European
integration, developing regional cooperation, the Ukrainian
situation, and strengthening the CEI's political role.
Regarding European integration, which is a priority goal for the
CEI, Secretary General Dal Mas called for "an acceleration of
the process, renewing the full commitment of the CEI and the
Executive Secretariat to support Serbia and the other candidate
countries."
"The European integration process requires alignment with the
European system, and we will provide support through regional
cooperation," Dal Mas said, adding that "at the same time,
Europe cannot be just a centre of bureaucracy, but must be a
political space that welcomes all peoples while respecting all
cultural differences."
