New tensions erupted this morning
in Novi Sad, northern Serbia, when local opposition politicians
and supporters attempted to break into City Hall during a
session to elect a new mayor. The protesters broke through the
massive police cordon set up in front of the building, throwing
paint, eggs, toilet paper rolls and other objects at the riot
police while chanting slogans against local authorities, the
Belgrade government and President Aleksandar Vucic. Meanwhile,
student protests, marches and roadblocks continue.
