After accounting for price,
seasonal, and calendar variations, the fourth quarter of 2024
saw a 0.2% decrease in GDP in Germany compared to the third
quarter of 2024, the German statistical office Destatis said
today. While household and government final consumption
expenditures increased, exports were significantly lower than in
the previous quarter, after accounting for price, seasonal, and
calendar adjustments. After a year of economic and structural
challenges, the German economy finished 2024 in negative
territory.
