The Czech Republic has proposed
to the European Commission that the emission-reduction
requirements for newly manufactured cars be relaxed, said Czech
Transport Minister Martin Kupka during today's press conference.
Vehicles will be required to declare compliance with emission
limits over a five-year period rather than annually.
Any sanctions imposed in the event of non-compliance would be
assessed five years later, after 2029. In this five-year period,
emissions would be cut by 15%.
