"With Keir, we agree that we must
not be afraid to imagine and build innovative solutions, such as
the one that Italy initiated with Albania," said Prime Minister
Giorgia Meloni. "The model was initially criticised, but it has
since gained widespread acceptance, to the point where the
European Union now plans to establish repatriation centres in
third countries. This means that we were correct, and that the
courage to be the forerunner has been rewarded," Meloni said in
a video message delivered at British Prime Minister Keir
Starmer's London summit on combating illegal immigration.
