Lombardy Governor Attilio Fontana
said "hatred and fake news against us have been demolished"
after a ministerial court cleared him and others of culpable
manslaughter in a probe into the handling of the COVID-19
epidemic in the northern region in 2020.
"A breath of truth, for me and for those who fought with me in
the front line against COVID. On this investigation, a certain
political party has for years built a campaign of real hatred
against Lombardy and against our work", he said, referring to
the 5-Star Movement (M5S).
"In the pages of the archiving sentence,' he added, "I can see
that many of the hoaxes that have been artfully constructed
about those dramatic months that shook our communities and
caused immense pain to so many families have been dismantled."
