A joint statement by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, another between the Foreign Ministries of Italy and Turkey "on strengthening bilateral economic relations", and nine memoranda of understanding between the two governments were announced at the end of the intergovernmental summit held at Villa Pamphilj, together with a memorandum of understanding between Leonardo and Baykar Technologies.
In the final ceremony, agreements were exchanged for a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy and the Ministry of Industry and Technology of Turkey, on cooperation in the field of science, technology, innovation, industry and investment. Another is between the space agencies of the two countries, on cooperation in space activities for peaceful purposes. The Ministries of Culture have signed one on the fight against illicit trafficking of cultural goods, and a memorandum of understanding has also been defined between the two governments on museum cooperation and the promotion of archaeological heritage. Another memorandum is for cooperation between the archives of the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Turkish State Archives, and one has also been signed on cooperation in the field of youth policies and sports, between the Department of Sports and Youth Policies of the Presidency of the Council and the Ministry of Youth Policies and Sports in Ankara. On cooperation in the field of social services, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Italian Ministry for Disabilities and the Turkish Ministry for Family and Social Services. The one between the two Ministries of Infrastructure instead concerns cooperation in the use of international transport corridors, while cooperation in the field of social services is the focus of the one between the Ministry of Labor in Rome and the Turkish Ministry for Family and Social Services.
Speaking after the summit, Meloni thanked Erdogan for his mediation on Ukraine and for cancelling out irregular migration from Turkey towards Europe, said there was a joint commitment to stabilize Libya and ensure a democratic transition in Syria, and called the situation in Gaza ever more tragic.Erdogan invited Meloni and President Sergio Mattarella to Turkey, saying that Meloni's "courage" had boosted Italo-Turkish cohesion, and said cooperation on defence and energy would be boosted while Rome and Ankara supported the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
