A migrant, even if formally irregular,
must still be informed in good time of his rights, the Turin
Court of Appeal said Friday in annulling an order to detain in a
Piedmont detention and repatriation centre (CPR) a Moroccan who
was the recipient of an expulsion decree.
The judges, upholding an appeal by the man's lawyers, noted that
there is no proof that he was adequately informed of the right
to request international protection.
The foreigner, who arrived in Italy through the Ventimiglia
border with France at the beginning of March, was taken to the
facility on April 18.
