In February, public debt returned
above 3,000 billion due to the growth of "Treasury liquidity",
the Bank of Italy said Tuesday.
Public administration debt increased by 42.6 billion compared to
January, amounting to 3,024.3 billion, said the Italian central
bank.
he 3,000 billion mark had already been exceeded in November
(3,005.6 billion) and then fell back below this threshold in the
following two months.
The increase reflects the increase in the Treasury's liquid
assets (26.2 billion, to 76.1), the requirement of public
administrations (15.7 billion), and the effect of the discounts
and premiums on issuance and reimbursement, the revaluation of
indexed securities and the change in exchange rates (0.7).
