Daniel Craig's turn as a gay American
fugitive in a decadent 1940s Mexico City who falls for a Marine
on leave in Italian director Luca Guadagnino's Queer, from cult
author William S Burroughs book of the same name, will be one of
the performances to watch in the coming year, Variety said
Thursday.
The ex James Bond's part in the Bigger Splash and Call Me by
Your Name auteur's latest work is as keenly awaited as Lady Gaga
as Harley Quinn in the Joker sequel, Angelina Jolie in Maria
(Callas) by Pablo Larrain, and Robert Pattinson in Mickey 17,
said the American entertainment bible.
Queer also features Lesley Manville (Princess Margaret in The
Crown) and cult actor Jason Schwartzman.
Palermo-born Guadagnino, 52, whose Call Me By Your Name made
Timothy Chalmée a star and brought a best adapted screenplay
Oscar, is also debuting tennis triangle The Challengers this
year, starring Zendaya, Josh O' Connor and Mike Faist.
