The Italian Ambassador to Tunisia, Alessandro Prunas, inaugurated the exhibition 'Daccourdou. Aspects and forms of the Italian cultural presence in Tunisia. A photographic account'. Promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute of Tunis, in collaboration with the Italian Embassy and the Institut National du Patrimoine, the exhibition recounts the rich cultural heritage shared between Italy and Tunisia through contemporary photography. Curated by Filippo Maggia, one of Italy's leading experts on contemporary photography, the exhibition presents the work of four internationally renowned photographers, Claudio Gobbi, Tommaso Fiscaletti, Giovanna Silva and Souad Mani, who were called upon to document the Italian cultural presence in the Maghreb country with different visual languages. The title, Daccourdou, derives from an expression in Tunisian Arabic of Italian origin, and recalls the long and stratified history of exchanges and contaminations between the two shores of the Mediterranean, also evident in everyday Tunisian vocabulary The exhibition, open until 25 July, is realised thanks to the support of the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture, within the framework of the Public Notice for the promotion of Italian contemporary photography abroad, and is accompanied by a catalogue, supervised by Filippo Maggia, published by Silvana Editoriale. Supporters of the initiative include Bisazza Mosaic, Elleti Group, the NGO WeWorld, with the collaboration of the Bardo Museum and the Institut National du Patrimoine.
