Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban reiterated his great admiration for the policies of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, saying that Serbia is one of the most successful countries in Europe today.
Speaking at a press conference at the end of talks today in Budapest with Vucic, Orban said that the stability of the Balkans is linked to the stability of Serbia. "It is fortunate that Serbia has a president committed to the stability of the Balkans." According to the media in Belgrado, Orban emphasized in particular the importance of bilateral cooperation with Serbia in the field of energy and infrastructure, with projects launched for the construction of a 300-kilometer oil pipeline between the two countries, and a fast railway line between Budapest and Belgrade.
"There can be no energy stability for Hungary without Serbia, just as there can be no energy stability for Serbia without Hungary," Orban said.
Vucic was previously awarded Hungary's highest state honor by Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok for the Serbian president's historic role in bringing the two countries and peoples closer together, and for strengthening the strategic partnership between Serbia and Hungary. Vucic said this recognition is one more step in the successful cooperation between the two friendly and neighboring countries.
