A series of earthquakes that shook
the island of Santorini over the weekend and Monday prompted
evacuations and increased monitoring as authorities assessed the
situation, the daily Kathimerini reported today. From Saturday
afternoon to Monday evening, 37 earthquakes with magnitudes
greater than 4 were recorded, along with numerous smaller
tremors. In response to the ongoing seismic activity,
authorities on Santorini have implemented an evacuation plan to
ensure the safety of both residents and tourists.
