On Saturday, Feb. 8, the opening
day of Go!2025, European Capital of Culture Gorica-Nova Gorica,
the horses of the hippomont patrols and the Italian State Police
Fanfare are scheduled to perform jointly with the similar
Slovenian formation. The State Police Fanfare was founded in
the late 1980s performing mainly on horseback until it was
established as a "dismounted musical ensemble" in 2004. Its
repertoire is very varied, aiming to satisfy every musical
taste, exploring different genres including symphonic, operatic
and even pop music (by maestro Massimiliano Profili are the
arrangements for the Fanfare of some songs from the Sanremo
Festival) while nevertheless not neglecting the tradition of
symphonic and military marches. For the occasion, four horses
in livery of the State Police 'hippomounted' patrols will open
the procession that will wind through the city streets.
