The European Capital of Culture, Nova Gorica-Gorizia, was discussed yesterday during the ceremony where President Nataša Pirc Musar of the Republic of Slovenia was awarded an honorary degree in International Relations by the University of Naples "L'Orientale." The Mayor of Gorizia, Rodolfo Ziberna, also attended the event and had the opportunity for a private meeting with the President and her staff to discuss updates on Go!2025.
"It was a great honor to hear the words that Giuseppe Cataldi, professor of International Law, dedicated to our European Capital of Culture in his laudatio, where he highlighted President Pirc Musar's key career points and her extraordinary commitment to defending human rights, freedom of expression, and the right to information," Ziberna underlined.
"The meeting I had afterward with the president and the Ambassador wasbeneficial for sharing thoughts on the future of the Capital of Culture," he added.
Rector Roberto Tottoli, the Mayor, and the Prefects of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi and Michele Di Bari, as well as Senator Tatjana Rojc, Slovenian Ambassador Matjaz Longar, and the Honorary Consul of Slovenia in Naples, Jacopo Fronzoni, participated in the ceremony.
In her lecture"The role of small and medium-sized countries in modern international relations," Pirc Musar discussed several topics, including the challenges of peaceful reconciliation of the past, legal and ethical issues surrounding artificial intelligence, and the role of women in high politics and institutions. The ceremony was a tribute to the President's legal and institutional care. It offered an opportunity to strengthen ties between Italy and Slovenia while showcasing the university's historical role in studying the Slovenian language and culture.
