More than 200 students and about
15 faculty and assistants from four universities will
participate in the morning of studies on Saturday, March 15, at
the Conference Center in Gorizia as part of the Studio Due-Gongo
2025 project.
Over the years, an inter-university experimental didactic
program related to teaching in the Architectural Design
laboratories of the degree programs in Architecture at the
Universities of Trieste and Salerno, the Federico II University
of Naples, and the Polytechnic University of Milan has been
initiated. The first year's thematic focus of study and design
activities was the historic center of Naples, while this year
(2024-2025), in conjunction with Nova Gorica-Gorizia European
Capital of Culture, the railway yard of the Transalpina station
in Nova Gorica and the neighboring cross-border urban areas of
Italy and Slovenia are the subject of study.
Also as part of Go!2025, the project for the functional and
landscape redevelopment of the Go!2025 District southern part
cross-border strip is underway. The aim of the two
municipalities is to create a "stitching up" that, by enhancing
the border as a historical element, will nurture the dialogue
between the common spaces of Italy and Slovenia, streamlining
the routes and building ideal places for meeting and exchange.
The project includes all the Italian and Slovenian public spaces
facing the border between Transalpine Square/trg Evrope and the
San Gabriele/Erjavčeva cesta crossing.
"The intention is to make this place not only a site of
passage but also to stop and enjoy the suggestions of an
extraordinary area. To 'breathe' history, pieces of the old
border network will also be restored," said Gorizia Mayor
Rodolfo Ziberna.
The redevelopment includes creating a parking area near Via
dei Catterini, redeveloping the cross-border green belt, laying
and providing street furniture and public lighting, and placing
historical elements. Five elm trees, two in Italy and three in
Slovenia will be planted along the route of the Corno stream.
