The Council of Europe's Committee
for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) "does not rule out examining
the situation in Italian repatriation centres" (CPR) "in
Albania," said President Alan Mitchell and Executive Secretary
Hugh Chetwynd during the presentation of the annual report. "The
issue of these centres was discussed during the meeting I had
with the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio last October in Rome,"
Mitchell said, emphasising how the body, given the discussions
underway in other countries on the outsourcing of repatriation
centres, is keeping a close eye on those in Albania.
