Italy's exports to the United States
could fall by 10% if Washington confirms tariffs of 20% on
imports from the European Union, Business and Made in Italy
Minister Adolfo Urso said on Wednesday.
"Should the picture be as envisaged and not change, the
ministry's study centre has estimated a 10% impact on Italian
exports to the US in the event of reciprocal duties at 20%, and
6.5% if they were to be halved," Urso said.
The minister said the tariffs would have a big impact on car
exports and "a very significant impact on the automotive
components supply chain".
He said the same was true for pharmaceuticals, a "very important
export item to the US for us," if US President Donald Trump
presses ahead with a newly announced plan for medicines.
