Italian music is the protagonist at
the Arena Matsuri of Expo 2025 Osaka. On Monday 19 May at 5:00
pm, the Italian Cultural Institute of Osaka will present to the
international public young artists who have distinguished
themselves on the scene. Angelica Bove, Lor3n, Maria Tomba and
Yuman, the latter winner of Sanremo Giovani 2021, accompanied by
a band led by Maestro Maurizio Filardo (Mc: Matteo Inzeo) will
make the visitors of the universal exhibition dance.
Sanremo Giovani World Tour is an initiative of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation which since 2019
has contributed, thanks to the network of Italian Cultural
Institutes, to the ever-increasing diffusion of new Italian
songs in the world.
But who are the artists who will perform in Osaka? Angelica
Bove, born in Rome in 2003, began her musical career by sharing
videos on TikTok. Her fame in Italy was consolidated thanks to
her participation in the talent show X Factor and subsequently
at Sanremo Giovani where she was a finalist, confirming herself
as one of the promises in the world of music.
Lor3n, stage name of Lorenzo Iavagnilio, was born in 2001. He
studied guitar and piano, and began writing songs at 14 years
old. He self-produced his first single, released in 2019. A
winning choice that led him to attract the attention of his
current manager, until he participated in Sanremo Giovani in
2023, reaching the final. In 2024 he released his new EP,
'Galassia'.
A year older than Lor3n is Maria Tomba, born in Verona in 2002.
She also began her artistic career at a very young age,
cultivating a passion for music and fashion at the same time. In
2023, she participated in the talent show X Factor, where thanks
to her approach she was selected for the Sanremo Festival 2025.
Yuman was born in Rome in 1995 to a Cape Verdean father and an
Italian mother. In 2015, he moved to London and Berlin where he
furthered his musical education. In 2018, he released his first
single and in 2019 his debut album, which attracted great
interest at European level. In 2021, he won Sanremo Giovani,
which led him to participate in the Sanremo Festival 2022 where
he won one of the special critics' awards. In 2024, he released
two singles that anticipate the new album, expected in 2025.
Matteo Inzeo was born in Latina in 1976 and graduated in
Oriental Languages ;;and Civilizations from the University of
Rome 'La Sapienza'. In 2002 he moved to Japan through the Jet
program (Japan exchange and teaching program). Since 2003 he has
taught Italian at the Italian Language and Culture center
Bell'Italia, in Tokyo. Since 2005 he has started participating
in various NHK television programs on the Italian language,
including 'Conversazione in italiano', 'L'italiano in TV',
'Viaggiando in italiano' and 'L'italiano per viaggiare'. Since
2010 he has collaborated regularly with the NHK radio programs
'Mainichi Itariago' (L'italiano ogni giorno). He is currently on
air with the series 'Passeggiando per Roma'. In 2019 he was the
presenter of the "Sanremo Giovani World Tour", held at the
Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo.
Born in 1951, the Sanremo Italian Song Festival is one of the
oldest and longest-running music festivals in the world. Over
the years, it has launched many highly successful singers onto
the national and international scene, from Domenico Modugno to
Gigliola Cinquetti, Andrea Bocelli and Måneskin.
Since 1993, the main Festival has been supported by Sanremo
Giovani, a competition that focuses in particular on the talents
of the new generations: the first prize consists of
participation in the Sanremo Festival of the following year.
