Sinner and Italian Tennis Federation (FITP) President Angelo
Binaghi were received by Pope Leo XIV on Wednesday along with
their families, sources said.
The American pontiff is a keen tennis player and on Monday he
agreed to play a charity tennis match to fund missionary work,
although he quipped that he would not play Sinner.
Sinner is currently taking part in the Italian Open in Rome
after returning from a three-month suspension for a doping
offence.
He is not in action on Wednesday after beating Argentine
Francisco Cerundolo 7-6 (7/2), 6-3 on Tuesday to reach the
quarter-finals
The 23-year-old will face Casper Ruud or Jaume Munar in the last
eight.
