"Today, the European Commission
and the Republic of Moldova agreed on a comprehensive two-year
strategy for energy independence and resilience in Chisinau."The
strategy has the dual goal of freeing Moldova from the
insecurities of Russian energy supply and fully integrating it
into the EU energy market," the EU commission stated. "Under
this strategy, overall support for the Republic of Moldova would
amount to 250 million euros in 2025, with the EU providing 100
million euros by mid-April. In addition to this overall support,
as part of the same strategy, €60 million in funding is
available for the more than 350,000 people in the Transnistria
region who were left in the cold in January due to Gazprom's
interruption of energy supplies. The support is contingent on
the implementation of measures pertaining to fundamental
freedoms and human rights.
